CLUB HISTORY

Coming on strong from the sporting heartland of the nation (Eastbourne), Brighton Lacrosse is looking to push on from a successful first two years, finishing runners up in the annual University of Brighton Team of the Year award in the 05/06 season.

Primarily formed in September 2005 by Liam Brown and Jon Howard, Brighton Lacrosse is commited to keeping it's floodgates open and welcoming new recruits to join the revolution!

A busy first year saw the team rein victorious in a host of memorable exhibition matches, as well as making the semi finals in their debut tournament. Training sessions have become a thing of folklore, and socially the team has bombarded the serene streets of the Bourne with some dominating war cries.

This year Brighton Lacrosse is turning a corner as it seeks lucrative sponsorship from the newly opened Loft Lounge and Bar, drifting slighlty further away from the pub on the pier as the team looks to gain a more central base for it's socials. Expectancy for new players coming into the team each year is high, but with delegation being the symbol of the team, everyone is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the club.

In the pipeline for the new lax year (07/08) is the introduction of seperate Men's and Women's squad's. The Mixed team will always be the backbone of the club, however with the generosity from Centurons Lacrosse Club, and the support from the University of Brighton Students Union, Brighton Lacrosse looks forward to making headway in their new disciplines. At the centrepiece of the Brighton Lax calendar comes the renowned "Dublinfest" sports festival which falls during the Easter break. With these developments, and the present talks of securing a regular home ground in Eastbourne, the Future looks bright for the club.

So, whether you are a current member of the team, a 'keen" fresher looking to try something new, or a lax journeymen pining for a bit of a chuck around, Brighton Lacrosse team is ready to welcome anybody with a bit of of energy and a desire to get involved. Our 'vast' two year history has been solely dependent on people who have come together and made an idea work by sheer enthusiasm, and with over twenty-five regular squad players after one year, expansion is the objective to make the team one of the biggest outfits in the south of England.

One year the founding members barely knew the rules and had no equipment, this year at least we have equipment. Don't be shy!
